Hey there beautiful people of the DIY community. It's of great pleasure having something to finally share with you guys.
Students of my school were sent out to different training centers to learn a skill and I was sent to a small company where things like perfumes, shower gel, facial powder, shampoo and liquid washing soap are being produced.
Today, we were taught how to make shampoo and perfume but I'll only be sharing how to make shampoo for today and maybe some other time will do the how-to-make perfume post.
Let's get on with it but before that, I'd love to apologize for not taking pictures of all the processes. I was the one stirring the ingredients. The person I gave my phone to help me take pictures disappointed me so I was left to take a photograph of just the finished product.
Ingredients needed to make a shampoo
Water- we used 30 ltrs
Soda ash- 5kg
Nitrosol-0.5kg
SLS(sodium laureth sulfate)-0.5kg
Texapon-0.5kg
Sulphuric acid-60cl
Glycerin-40mls(measure with a calibrated cylinder)
STPP(Sodium triphosphate)-20g(preservative)
Color
Fragrance
PS: you can look up the ingredients on Google so you recognize them anytime you visit the market.
Tools used:*
Spatula(for mixing)
Bowl
Calibrated tube(for measurement of liquid solutions)
Measuring Scale
Preparation:
Pour 20 litres of water in a bowl and empty in 0.5kg of nitrosol. Mix with a spatula till it is completely dissolved.
In another bowl, mix your soda ash, sulphuric acid and texapon in water(prolly ten liters) and stir well then turn into the bowl of nitrosol and mix.
In a small container or bowl, mix your SLS in little water and stir till it completely dissolves and then pour into the bowl of already mixed nitrosol, etc. Do same for the STPP and turn in the bowl as well.
Next up, dissolve your coloring in little water(we made use of lemon color) and add to the bowl as well. Mix well with spatula for a perfect blend.
Next up, pour in your fragrance(we used banana and strawberry fragrance for ours) and mix well too. Measurement was 60mls as our shampoo was much. This was measured with a calibrated cylinder.
PS: you can add as much color or fragrance as you deem fit. It's all about how bright you want your shampoo to be or how strong you want it to smell.
That's it for our shampoo guys. Hope to write more in this community soon.
With love from teknon ✨.
