ASEAN Hive Community Challenge #30 - ✍️ Pencil Drawings (Redrawing My Sketch From 10 Years Ago)

Yesterday, one of the artists I met on TikTok challenged me to post my old artworks... so I told him that I'd search my gallery for them and join his challenge. And it so happened that when I checked my blog today for a bit, I saw this week's ASEAN Hive Community Challenge and it is also about "Pencil Drawings".

Recently, I'm more into painting or using coloring materials like marker pens or colored pencils when creating my art. Although I sketch from time to time, I still prefer my art to be colorful because I'm not that good at making my art livelier with just sketching. Anyway, I gave it a try today.

Most of my drawings from around 10 years ago were just pencil sketch, so I decided to pick one of the drawings I did before and redraw it in my current style. And here's what happened. :)





It's so messy but I enjoyed it! :) I'm quite happy with how my art style changed. In the past, I'd just simply copy my reference picture, but now, I try to incorporate my own style in it. Well, I'm still constantly searching for my own art style. I may have had breaks and wasn't very consistent with drawing, but I'm happy I could find a place in this activity.

Anyway, allow me to share some of the progress shots of my sketch today. The background of the photo differs because I drew this on my break time from work, so I switched places fairly often.

I originally wanted to draw him with a slightly opened mouth, but it's so difficult. So, I changed it. hahahaha I should really try to be more diligent with drawing practice.

One thing's for sure, though... I am still as messy as ever when it comes to sketching. lol

Anyway, do you recognize this anime character? He is one of the main characters of HunterXHunter. He's Gon Freecs, and I remember admiring him and Killua a lot when I was an elementary school student. I haven't updated myself with the anime or manga since then, but I think I should start with it again.
