We Talk Friday
(WTF)
This is a semi-regular series that I will run on Fridays to hold discussions on a current topic from the week gone. The aim is to keep them light and conversational, though some might be heavier - regardless of the content topic itself though, just have some fun engaging and discussing with whoever happens to put in the effort in the comments section below.
If it ain't one thing, it's the other.
My wife and daughter went to the shops to pick up a few things and parked in the underground carpark there. And, as my wife reversed, someone else in a rush reversed into the back of our car. The damage is minor, but there is damage. And while we can get it covered by our insurance, it is not worth the premiums. My wife said that the same woman was at the registers when they were there, had forgot her wallet and couldn't pay, and then said frustratedly she would go home and get it.
Don't drive angry.
A few years ago a similar thing happened to me in almost an identical spot, so unlike my usual approach, I don't blame my wife for the accident. I was actually very, *Very cool with it - but it is always something, isn't it? And it is always worse when the cost incurred is due to someone else's poor behaviour. But unfortunately, like it or not, sometimes...
You just have to suck it up.
Thankfully, the damage isn't bad enough to stop it being driven, but it is unsightly, so we will take it to the crash repairer to see what they will charge for it, and then decide if we will get the work done. I am half thinking of just buffing it back to clean it up, and putting a bit of silver spray paint over anything that is left.
I can't put my graffiti skill to use.
Note: I have no graffiti skills.
The other woman called my wife soon after talking to her insurance company, and said that when the "fault is unclear, it balances out" - but it would be interesting to see who is actually at fault, given that the carpark must have cameras. However, for a minor accident, is it worth the effort? I don't think so, but I really do hate it when people lie to save face. And that is what it is, because she has insurance too.
Ah well...
It could be worse. No one was hurt, the car is driveable, and it might make my wife consider checking and then rechecking before reversing for a little while.
Ever been in a fender bender?
