I learned in a documentary about dogs that all breeds share 99.9% of their DNA with wolves, which is pretty incredible considering all the variations of dogs there are. Having said that, humans share between 40 and 60% of their DNA with bananas. Now the thing to spend a little time considering, is how we ended up with banana DNA in us.
Since I am too serious too often, I thought for a bit of a different Monday night than I was planning (focused on oil reliance), I would write a bit less and open up the floor to some good, funny, or beautiful stories from the audience. So much of the world is in a horrible shambles, but there must be some good things happening if crowdsourcing collectively.
Right?
Let's see.
There are no rules or anything for this, but I am hoping that people commenting here have experienced something personally recently that made them glad they were alive, or restored some faith in humanity, or made them laugh deeply. Maybe someone recently had a baby, or fell in love, or was the recipient of an unexpected act of kindness. If so, share and let's talk about it.
My hope with this is that some of you will reflect a bit and find some goodness in your world, something to be happy about or grateful for, that you are willing to share with others. I am hoping that (since it is late) I will wake up in the morning and have some great moments to read over and perhaps see some supportive interaction and follow-up conversations happening. It is a bit of an experiment, where I will see if reading "good news" in the morning has an effect on my mood and the rest of the day, like an early morning workout does for energy levels.
Though working out in the morning isn't effective for me otherwise.
Nearly every morning, I wake up, check the time, take my pills, and then put on the coffee pan to brew a single cup of coffee. I have been having only a morning cup of coffee nearly every day for over a year now, and I have to say, I don't miss the extra cups that much, as I was drinking several a day. The only time I have extras is if people are visiting and they are having coffee (otherwise I will have a tea) or if I go with a friend for coffee somewhere and I have a cup.
It is a pretty repetitive routine.
Maybe adding "good news" as the first thing I read will be a welcome start to the day, or perhaps it will make no difference at all. What do you think? All I know is that I wish that firstly people would have some great experiences in their daily lives, and secondly that people would share them with others to spread the cheer and perhaps inspire people to look for some more beauty in their own lives.
"Mummy, if you could have any hair, what kind of hair would you want?"
Ah, thick and healthy hair. What would you want?
"Perhaps wavy hair, or long darker hair."
You would look good with darker hair, like Snow White.
"Or one of the dwarves."
This was a conversation between my wife and daughter, which I heard second-hand, so it doesn't count as my experience. However, when my wife told me the story, she almost couldn't make it to the end because she was already anticipating the self-aware line from my daughter recognising how short she is. It is rare I see my wife have that look of humour in her eye.
Got something to share?
