There are always elections going on around the world and some of them get pretty rowdy, but do you think there will ever be a normal election anywhere again? Because it seems that every election now comes with scandal and calls of election theft, and not accepting results. Gone are the days where the loser graciously accepts defeat and congratulates the winner.
Grace is dead.
Of course, the election mayhem is just more control mechanism in play, where the spotlight is all that matters and grabbing the media attention is the goal. Yet, I still find it pretty incredible that people support what would have just a decade or two ago, be called being a sore loser. And I think that it is not just in the hands of the politicians, but in the minds of the voters that have created this situation also.
Not that long ago people were celebrated for winning and losing, when they competed well. At some point though, the "when they competed well" condition was replaced by being rewarded for participating at all. It was like just to get people to get their lazy asses off the couch, they would have to be celebrated, which eroded the value of actually making an earnest attempt to compete well, because there was little difference between winning, and just showing up.
This evolved though and it got taken even further to the point now where we do not celebrate people who do well at all, and instead celebrate the biggest loser. Not like in the TV show where they lose a lot of weight, because in today's world, losing a lot of weight is not celebrated and is instead a sign of being a traitor against the body positivity people, who are all about accepting an unhealthy body. Gone are the celebrations for those who overcome massive adversity and dedicated themselves to achieve and we have welcomed in to the winners ring the ones who have the most problems and are willing to show them off.
And social media where everyone has a voice no matter how ridiculous, can amplify all of the arguments between losers, creating sides that will fight over who deserves the prize of the biggest loser. And this feeds right into the wheelhouse of politics, which is filled with losers who tend to like the sound of their own voice, power over others, and no need to actually do anything.
So now, elections are filled with the most ridiculous arguments and promises, with candidates showing zero class in what they say or how they say it, but it doesn't matter. Because they audience they are fawning to is also classless. I don't mind upper, middle, or lower - I mean possessing no class, no style, no personal intelligence. That sounds like a strong statement, but really have a look at what is going on and perhaps you will come to the same conclusion.
People are getting dumber.
Or is it spelt dummer?
Silent "Bs" are stupid. They shouldn't exist. From now on, all silent B's in words will be replaced by an American flag.
And for those that think "spelt" should be spelt, spelled - piss off.
What is incredible is that politics has become such a circus, such a public spectacle, that people seem to have completely forgotten that the government is actually meant to do shit to help people. Policy doesn't matter anymore in order to get elected, all one has to do is campaign against the opposition better, which usually requires AI videos, memes, and promises to defeat invented enemies. A candidate doesn't have to be intelligent, doesn't have to have skills, and can be a demonstrably horrible human, and still win.
If you are worried about votes from dead people, I think it is time to overhaul your voting technologies. If you can't count votes correctly, perhaps the education system is failing. If you have to rely on hating the other side instead of choosing the best policy, maybe it is time for a change.
But no.
Going forward, the elections will just get stupider and pad rich people's pockets further, so that the masses of idiots can be entertained and feel that they have a say in what happens in their world.
Democracy in action.
