There have been a couple of pieces of news over the last few days that have piqued my interest, even though I haven't dived very far into them at all. But, it kind of feels like there is something going on and it might be worth keeping an eye out for what progresses.
The first piece is the clusterfuck that has been the ousting of Sam Altman (ex-CEO and founder of OpenAI), Greg Brockman (another founder of OpenAI), and what they have done to replace them. Then, they both getting hired by Microsoft (which owns 49% of OpenAI) to run an advanced AI team. Not only this, something like 500 of the 770 employees at Open AI might be making the shift over to Microsoft too, though how many will actually transition, is still very much up in the air. All of this comes as OpenAI looks to float on the stockmarket.
I wonder how far that commitment stretches and how quickly it weakens?
Whatever it is, these are some monumental public moves by several key players in an industry that is really just starting to make an impact on our daily world. An impact that for the most part, I am yet to see many positives for in the case of how it is going to affect society, though I seem to be in the minority.
And in other news...
A self-proclaimed "anarcho-capitalist" has one the presidential election in Argentina, which has been met by a huge amount of ... ridicule. Which is fair enough, as Javier Milei does seem like a bit of a nut, with crazy wig, cloned dogs, and a very negative attitude toward "leftards".
While an economist, now that he has won, the conversation is about his attitude towards climate change, Covid vaccinations, woke culture and the leftist media and their lack of transparency on their own shortcomings, but their complete attack on their enemies.

Well, that is going to be an interesting approach to a government and if he does hold true to those words. I wonder whether he will start by bringing transparency into the government, or now that he is in, he will start to transform and conform into the same caste of animal he has replaced.
Whatever the result, there does seem to be a continued push back against the left woke culture, though as expected, it is just more polarization for agenda. For now though, this event in Argentina might seem like an anomaly, but I get the sense that there is going to be an increasing amount of movement in this direction, with resentment of governments growing, especially as they keep spending tax payer money like water, without actually benefitting the taxpayers. At some point, the people rebel.
In my own view, we shouldn't have to rebel against governments, because the governments should be working in our best interests. Yet, time and time again, it is shown that this is not the case and instead, we are both the cows to be milked to fund their plans, and the fodder to feed the cows to be milked. It is a circular economy, with us as the energy that drives it, but very little power over how we are spent.
It is unsustainable.
In so many ways. And as such, has created a massive amount of division, when we face challenges that require cohesion to overcome. The division is a control mechanism to maintain wealth and power, but the cost of it is, we are unable to solve the issues that are going to increasingly face us all, whether it be through changes in the environment, energy crisis, war and violence, overpopulation, food supply, or just our general sense of wellbeing. We are incredibly out of balance as a society and more disconnected from each other than ever, which is interesting since there has never been so many of us packed onto this earth at one time.
The drive for AI isn't going to be our savior, but one thing it might be able to accomplish is a more objective governance system. Combined with decentralized currencies and ownership, we might be able to finally shift away from this archaic system of rulers who have proven that they can't be trusted to do their job, which is to work for us, not against us.
I don't know if I will ever see us cross that line, where we are working together for wellbeing, rather than against each other for profit.
It won't be today.
