This time, I visited a beautiful and interesting café. Located in the city center, it offers a cozy atmosphere, a lovely setting, delicious food, and unique rules.
Mona Coffee 2.0—that is the name of this café. Located on Jalan Pepaya in Medan, it is currently popular and allows visitors to bring in outside food.
This is a truly beautiful and cozy café—perfect for working remotely. They’ve opted for a simple color palette; the décor is minimal yet eye-catching. While shades of gray and brown dominate the space, one wall features a vibrant, colorful accent: a stained-glass-style piece depicting the moon and stars. It is absolutely stunning and makes for a fantastic photo spot.
The menu selection here isn't extensive; there are various drink options—such as coffee and non-coffee choices like matcha, tea, chocolate, and refreshing beverages—including some intriguing signature drinks worth trying. Additionally, the menu features desserts, snacks, light meals, and rice dishes.
Cloudy Moon
Cloudy Moon: Caramel Latte with Salty Foam—this is their signature menu item. It consists of milk coffee topped with salty foam and caramel syrup.
It is absolutely delicious—sweet and slightly bitter—and when you drink it with the foam on top, you get a hint of saltiness and a smooth texture. It is truly tasty; they don't use an overpowering coffee, yet the coffee flavor still comes through and blends perfectly with the milk.
The type of coffee drink I love: a delicious blend of bitter and sweet flavors, topped with a sweet and salty creamy foam—absolutely delicious.
Nasi Ayam Geprek
Don't worry—if you come here, you can also get a hearty meal. Although there are only three main dish options, they all look appealing and delicious. This time, I ordered the Nasi Ayam Geprek.
Battered, deep-fried chicken pieces that are wonderfully crispy, served with egg, rice, and delicious sambal geprek. Although the chili isn't overly spicy, it is still delicious.
Dubai Chewy Cookie
The dessert I ordered was the Dubai Chewy Cookie; it’s a very famous dessert, though this was my first time trying it. It turned out to be delicious, even though the price was quite high.
The "Dubai" cookie features a chewy dough coated in cocoa powder, filled with a delicious pistachio and kunafa mixture. It is incredibly tasty—even as I write this, I can still imagine the flavor. It has the perfect level of sweetness and a texture that is chewy on the outside yet crispy on the inside; simply delicious.
Brownies
And finally, there are the brownies—though I didn't actually buy them at this café. I ordered chocolate brownies with a custom decorative topping that I had a friend arrange for me, haha. I wanted to celebrate the arrival of one of my favorite characters, so I ordered these brownies with the inscription "Welcome dd Renjin"; it was really just a bit of fun on my part, but it was so exciting and enjoyable.
And of course, these brownies are absolutely delicious—sweet and packed with chocolate, especially since I ordered them with extra melted chocolate on top. Truly delicious.
