The presidential election here in my country, Nigeria, took place just last Saturday. Of course, I had gone out to exercise my civic responsibility.

While at my polling unit, I somehow went into a state of observation. Don't blame me. After spending several hours standing around and waiting for the officials to show up, what else do you expect? In course of accessing, I told myself, "you're crazy bro." I know. I just felt that way.

Anyway, like in every gathering one finds himself, there are always different characters. Doesn't just apply to humans alone, you know. In your mother's soup pot, do you find veggies alone? Stop salivating!! See you already thinking wide and wild. What a meat-mover!

The various characters made the whole place fun. Sincerely, I just cannot wait for Saturday, for the gubernatorial election, because, crazy people will show themselves. Drama will be unending.
Here are the kinds of people I noticed and some I heard about;

Ministers.

I arrived early enough and in time to see this man start praise and worship. My God! He almost turned the place to a crusade ground. The prayers? The only thing that wasn't done was a deliverance session.
Took self-control for me to not pull off my face cap and begin going around to collect offering.

Gen Zs

If you just move anyhow, they've swiped open their phone camera. Two seconds and you're trending all over Twitter and social media. Bold, smart kids with doings.

Senior men and women.

Very relaxed, comfortable people. They don't stress so they came prepared; charged phones, charged powerbanks, mifi, mini fans, headset, water bottle, snacks, drinks, chairs, umbrellas. No time for drama. If you give them a bed, they'll lie down and sleep. All they know is that they'll vote and see to the end of the process.

Occupy till I come

These ones only showed up early to reserve space for their friends me family. You cannot even argue with them cause they seem to be the tiger-gen of their family.

First timers.

If you see them from afar, you'll know. Looking nervous and lost. Talkabout, "Am I supposed to vote?" No dear, pick beans. They'll use questions to disorganize your brain. University freshers don't come close.

Analysts

When I say 'over,' you say 'sabi'. "Over..!" I call them Argumentative-essay. They already know how the elections will go, how many votes will be casted, who will win 2054 election, on and on. One minute, they're laughing. The next, they're at the brink of offing their shirts so they can do it man-to-man. They're very interesting people but maintain some distance just in case..

Ballot box snatchers

You think some do not come looking all calm and cool? Look again. All this one is calculating is that slight moment when he can go for the box, grab it and make a run. Somebody, say, "for here!??" If you're (un)fortunate to get caught, that is it. Game over bro! Game over!

Movers and shakers

These ones have owambe spirit in them. They should be part of the senior men and women but no. There's a slight difference with them. These ones like fun and excitement. They'll bring Ludo and card games, even go as far as setting up a tennis board to play. To add to the groove, they'll turn the place to a party ground; loud music from their speakers, they'll order for meat and snacks and drinks for as many as. Before you know it, polling unit has become night day club.

And there's me..

I actually belong somewhere. Here. I'm the calm guy who is all about casting my vote for my preferred candidate and then praying he wins.
And also enjoying the drama in my unit.

There might be more.
