I am finally finished planting all my trays of different vegetables in my gardens. They are all doing marvelously and I have to say they seem so happy to be planted in the ground. Here is how they look after leaving the greenhouse for over a week and oh how they have grown.
There are 50 red peppers planted in this large raised bed. In between them, I seeded carrots and parsnips for a late summer harvest. On the outside edges, I have beets and swiss chard growing for easy access for cutting the greens.
As you can see the herbs are really filling in quickly. I will be harvesting my second round today and drying them in the food dehydrator.
I planted a few romaine lettuces underneath the white lilac tree to keep it shaded from the hot afternoon sun. I think it will grow well here so I can harvest it longer.
I only planted 10 Roma Tomato plants this year as I still have not used all the jars I canned last season. :-) Eggplant is making a border alongside them as well.
I placed the Buttercrunch lettuce underneath my Dogwood tree to keep them shaded like the Romaine.
The Cilantro plants are getting quite big already and I am going to cut them back to dry. Some of them I will chop and place into ice cube trays with a little water. Such an easy way to use them for cooking later.
The tower garden has been a bit of a challenge since moving them outside. The wind gusts have blown it over twice so we put some re-rod into the ground and put the tower over that. So far it is stable but the hot days dry the soil out way too quickly. I may have to try and figure out what will work best the next time around.
I decided to keep the spinach growing in the containers instead of planting them. I have been cutting them back since I had them in the greenhouse. They are the perfect size to add to my salads every day.
That is all for today's post and happy gardening to all my fellow Hive Gardeners.
Until next time, this is Sunscape
