Thanksgiving Cactus
The Thanksgiving cactus (Schlumbergera truncata) that I have owned for more years than I can remember started blooming this past week. Every year around Thanksgiving here in the USA it begins to burst out in beautiful pink blossoms.
I usually share photos of my cactus every year and this one is no different. If you have followed me for any length of time you will have noticed a similar post from me in the past. I think, if my memory serves me correctly, I did a post about the different varieties that are often mistaken for one another.
Cuttings
I accidentally broke some of the branches when I moved it out of the south-facing window earlier this spring. I rooted the cactus in a glass of water and then potted it up into this small pot that sits in my north-facing kitchen window. Apparently, that did not affect it much as it is putting forth blooms as well.
I took this photo a couple of weeks ago and many of the blossoms have fully opened since then. She is by far the easiest plant I own. I give it a small amount of rainwater every Monday morning, just enough to not let it dry out too much. Easy care as far as I am concerned. However, I may have to pot it up come next spring just to give it a little more room.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone and may your gatherings be full of fun and laughter.
