Putting up lights on the outside of the house is getting less and less every year. Between all the strands that only light up half of them, fewer bushes that have died off that I used to put them on, and lastly, I'm not getting any younger you know. Well, maybe in my head but the body sometimes tells me otherwise.
This year I did mostly red and white lights with some candy canes too. It is very simple, but it came out cute.
The little solar lights are casting a pretty pattern on the ground around each one.
I put together this little tree of lights using an old tomato cage and added some garland and a star.
I put white lights on the trellis to the entrance of my vegetable garden. Would you believe I still have some Swiss Chard, Green Onion, and Rosemary doing well?
The front porch continues the candy cane theme with striping around the pole with red ribbon and lights.
This is my little garden gnome I made using another tomato cage and some old garland. The nose is a very large baking potato. For the life of me, I could not find his white furry beard, so he will have to be a young gnome this year. ;-)
I did find a bin with this little Christmas tree in it so I put that down in my family room next to the fireplace. I had to put it into a large flower pot so the dog would not pull it over. It added just enough to the room along with the garlands this year. Next year I will be putting up my large tree once I get the dog used to all the decorations.
This was a photo from a few years ago when I had three of these large Alberta Spruce along the front of my house. They grew to be about 10' tall before we had to take them out due to them dying.
I have to admit that I like the small lights but I kind of miss the old-fashioned large colorful bulbs. I still have some strands like that with a few packages of bulbs, maybe next year I will find somewhere to hang them out.
