It's been a couple of weeks now since Disqus announced it will be shutting down it's internal blog sites. Everyone must find a new home. I've been over there for several years now and quite frankly it's become like a second home with the only difference being you could just click off the relatives if they irritated you. Not that they did very often but it's funny how you can become so emotionally intertwined with people you don't even know. It's been a great adventure, a life saver even so their announcement came with a lot of emotional baggage. Now that there's been a period of mourning I figured I like many others should look for a new home.
Not that my site ever took off like a lot of the sites over there I mainly did a Sunday edition of editorial cartoons. It didn't matter what political affiliation I kept it pretty even handed along with just plain tossing in good non political cartoons. I've always had a thing for editorial cartoons, back before the internet I use to come home from work and one of the first things I'd go for was a good laugh from the editorial cartoonist in the editorial section in the back of our local paper. Laughter isn't a guarantee in life unless you go looking for it and editorial cartoonist rarely fail at that endeavor. After thinking long and hard about it I decided it's something I'd like to keep doing, maybe not at the length I did it over there but somehow incorporate a bit of it over here. I decided since I wasn't making anything from my efforts over there declining any payout over here wouldn't be a big deal as I'd rather have a good laugh then a couple of pennies anyway. For the most part now that the crying is over I've packed a few things in my bag and I am heading on over...
Okay...what can I say, maybe I can find a bit more room for some extra news blimps, be creative under the fair use doctrine. Maybe I can even make my dollar back in a few years I spent on my banner design...
You know with every move there's always that one thing everyone just wants to leave behind because nobody wants to carry it, then they finally get it outside and swear there's no way it's going to fit...
Well, yeah, I have one of those too. It comes with a whole lot of sentimental value and there's just no way I can leave it behind. I am not very computer savvy but I played around with it a bit and got it to a point it may be presentable to carry around...
Over time I may still play with it a bit, find some way to incorporate it under some amusing confusing headlines. I know with the next hard fork things are going to get a bit rough around here...
but for the most part, like I said, I was posting for nothing before so despite all the dire warnings I'll probably still be around, there may be a few who'll dare still enter here...
...really what's the worse that can happen then I find myself packing back up for another move, at least I still have my banners, oh, and...
the dog, can't forget about the dog.
