We meet again tonight at 10:42 PM. After a long day of selling delicious Thai food, I'm finally home, resting and recharging. And of course, this is a special time for me to sit down and write about my journey today, sharing my thoughts with you all in the warm embrace of this day.
🌅 Starting the day with a rush and a challenge.
Every day, my life begins in my mother's kitchen, the birthplace of authentic, flavorful Thai recipes. I meticulously prepare a variety of Thai dishes, from rich coconut curries and spicy sour curries to various stir-fried vegetables – almost 30 dishes in total. Along with two types of hot rice: fluffy white jasmine rice and healthy black rice, offering the best choice for my customers.
We'll start moving our trusty food cart to our location at Pantip Market, Koh Phangan, around 10:00 AM. I can honestly say that every morning is a mix of emotions – rush, excitement, and exhaustion – because we're working against tight deadlines.
On days that go smoothly and I finish cooking quickly, I can set up the stall early and have more opportunities to sell.
On days that are difficult, preparing ingredients sometimes presents obstacles that require immediate solutions.
Since I decided to help my mother manage the stall and started renovating this food cart, arranging the food in attractive and clean ways to make it look appetizing, I feel proud every time I look at the stall now.
☔ A Tornado: A Test of the Resilient Spirit of Those Trying to Make a Living
Today, in the first few days of opening the shop, everything seemed to be going well. Food was selling steadily until evening. Suddenly, the sky darkened, and rain poured down relentlessly. The atmosphere froze. Tourists and people in the market vanished for almost 1-2 hours. The market square was deserted. Vendors leaned against their carts, looking at each other helplessly. Being a street vendor,
selling food outdoors, is not easy when the weather is uncooperative. Everyone scrambled to find tarpaulins to cover their stalls, struggling to protect their food from getting wet. No matter how wet they got, their livelihood had to be safe. It was a physically exhausting and challenging time for those fighting for their lives. But in the end, all of us in the market held hands and overcame this test.
💖 The Power of Cooperation and the Reward for Never Giving Up
As evening fell and the rain subsided, leaving only flashes of lightning in the sky, Thai and foreign tourists began to trickle out again, strolling around and looking for delicious food. For me, nothing was more terrifying than bringing home a pot of leftover curry. In that moment, my husband and I held hands and persevered. We didn't let fatigue get the better of us. We kept an eye out, flashed hearts with smiles, and invited passersby to chat, recommending our delicious Thai dishes in a friendly manner, using both Thai and English as best we could, to create a positive impression and encourage them to try our food.
And then, our efforts and unwavering spirit paid off with the sweetest results. Every pot of curry, every plate of food, was sold out completely. Not a single drop was left.
It was an incredibly heartwarming feeling. The accumulated fatigue of the day vanished in an instant when I saw the empty plates. I turned to my husband, smiled, and whispered to myself, "We did it!"

After that, my family and I helped clean up the equipment, wash everything, and happily wheeled our trusty cart home. Now I'm back to reviewing, checking the ingredients, and writing down the menu for tomorrow. My body is always ready to tackle the hard work tomorrow!
