I looked out from my wooden treehouse toward the weird tree, where three sets of long white ears were jumping about.
I climbed down from the treehouse, moving slowly and quietly as I crept toward the three rabbits. They had been stealing carrots from Grandma’s farm every week, always running off back into the forest before anyone could catch them.
“Not this time,” I whispered to myself.
As I got closer to the tree, which swayed like a drunkard, I finally caught a clear glimpse of the mischievous trio, and they spotted me too.
For a second, we just stared at each other.
“Oh no you don’t,” I said, breaking into a run.
I chased them into the forest, branches crunching under my feet. I laughed when one of them tripped over a fallen branch and rolled a few times.
“Serves you right!”
