Well, I always say fate has its own ways of dealing with things. And today, it did the magic. So just a while ago, I was interacting over Waves, and then, thought of reading few big posts. As I just came back from work and stuff. And then, I saw the contest.
What is so special here?
So, in my Notes, I have a bunch of topics title and stuff to study, research or yap about. Today, I was going to yap about: "why I hate this new job of mine?" What am I doing as of now? Excluding Hive, three things: Journal Management, I have to review and organise then submit it to the superior and stuff like that, and it is a new one; the online taxi stuff, the fun one because I get to yap with the passengers, not sure about them though; and finally, there is this Guest Blogging Outreach Business stuff. Basically, pretty much occupied routine.
The main reason I hate the current job is the beef - internal politics - between the elderly folks. Although, it does not impact me in any manner, as of now. But come on, I hate to work in an hostile environment. Will see how it turns out next.
Okay enough, now to the real question.
If I could choose any profession, what would it be and why?
Be a Teacher!
In my present state, there is no doubt about it. The past me would have not liked me for saying this. Because, during my school era, I wanted to be a military official.
Reminds me of this meme:
Yes, I was a big nationalist. Now? I still am, but a patriot. I love my country, will always do; but I also accept the great flaws it has. However, the thing is: I hate the flaws of the people, not the land. So what changed? The ideology to see things. The harmony came, and with that every ethnicity, religion started to seem alike. I mean, we all are humans. So who am I going to hate? ANd why am I even going to hate anyone? If there is no hate, why am I going with the military? So plan changed.
I have no enemies, just opponents.
Then I thought of becoming a doctor. The plan failed as soon as I started with - Biology. I was like NAH! I cannot memories all this stuff, and I do care about my hairs. I am not letting this bookish stuff take those hair from me.
Then, in college, I came across: Sandeep Maheshwari. The moment, I listened to that guy; I decided to become a businessman.
And yes, I am embarrassed - even mentioning him.
No offense to anyone, you may like him. But my present self, hates him, his lame speeches and motivations, and me listening to him back then. Now I believe motivation works only when, it is "internal." Nothing else can make a difference. The idea about being a businessman dropped, when I say my bank balance.
Anyways, then came the university life. And that life helped me find my real passion - the teaching.
I have also taught children, but it was not a good experience. Age restriction thing makes everything difficult. Then there are parents, who hate me for going out of conventional means. Kids are great. There is no doubt in this point. They always come up with weird theories, questions, even answers. Even an adult brain lacks the ability to comprehend. But the thing is the limitation. And the worst of all, notified syllabus. Move an inch away, and you will be hearing threats from the principal. So, I just quit. Actually, they made me to quit. So same thing, lol.
At present, I am thinking of going for MPhil, because in order to teach bigger classes, I really need a big degree. I have applied for teaching, but there are always people with higher education than me.
But why do I love teaching so much?
I strongly believe that it has the ability to change the world. To make this chaotically beautiful world somewhat good. There may or may not be anything to do that. Because as they say: "teacher may not be a king; but he can make a king."
There is some satisfaction in teaching. Because, it is a two-way process. I teach; you teach. We both learn and grown. Because, knowledge is an ocean, and each one of us plays a drop in it. Whether it is a kid or a big adult, there is always something new. But, as said earlier, this time I would prefer adult students. Reasons you already know.
Then, I would love to see them to question things, explore different perspectives and develop opinions of their own. They do not have to agree with me on everything. In fact, I would love to have a student who challenges my arguments with better or wort ones. But at least, they will try. Just imagine the discussion!
Moreover, I have done my Bachelors in Linguistics and Literature. Forget about Linguistics for the time being. Literature really lightens me up, especially Russian literature. Lightens me up? Well the depression has its own fun. And all this literature thing makes the experience more fun. Because there is always someone with something new. One philosopher says this thing; the other completely denies it. And the cycle continues, and I believe, everyone is a philosopher. Just be insane about stuff, say absurd things, and you are good to go. Everyone can do it easily. All one need is a proper environment. And, in my classroom, I will be giving it. Good reason to be a teacher.
In the end, I know, teaching is not all sunshine and rainbows. There are demanding parents, administrative nonsense, internal conflicts, rigid syllabus and the salary situation, especially when you are starting your career. Because passion, alone, does not pay every bill, after all. But despite these challenges, I still want to become the kind of teacher, I rarely had. Maybe I am being too idealistic, lol. But if I can help even a handful of people become better thinkers and kinder human beings, I would consider that a job worth doing.
Let words challenge minds, not bullets end lives.
