There is a special kind of confidence that comes from building a lineup and thinking you have everything figured out. š
You check the mana.
You check the rules.
You look at your cards.
You move everything into position.
Then you look at your lineup one last time and think:
āThis is it. No way Iām losing this.ā
The battle starts.
Your opponentās team appears.
You look at their lineup.
Then you start questioning every decision you just made. š
The first attack happens.
Your tank takes a huge hit.
You think, āOkay, thatās fine.ā
Another attack.
More damage.
You start getting concerned.
Then your strongest attacker misses.
At that exact moment, the confidence disappears.
āOh no.ā š
Now youāre watching every single turn like your life depends on it.
You start praying for your cards to make the right moves.
āPlease hit.ā
āPlease dodge.ā
āPlease survive one more round.ā
And when the card finally does exactly what you wanted, you celebrate like you just won a championship. š
But sometimes the battle goes completely the other way.
Your lineup starts collapsing and you already know the outcome.
At that point, you stop being a player and become a commentator.
āWell, that didnāt work.ā
āInteresting choice.ā
āI definitely should have used another card.ā
š
Then the battle ends.
You lose.
You stare at the screen for a few seconds.
Then you do the most predictable thing possible:
You play another battle.
Because obviously the solution to losing is not to stop.
Itās to prove that the last battle was a mistake. š
So you change one card.
Maybe change the position of another.
Try a slightly different strategy.
And suddenly you feel confident again.
āThis one is definitely winning.ā
And thatās the beautiful cycle of Splinterlands.
You win, you feel like a genius.
You lose, you become a strategist.
You lose again, you become a philosopher.
Then you win one battle and suddenly everything makes sense again. š
Sometimes I think the funniest part isnāt even the battle itself.
Itās everything that happens in your head before and after it.
You can spend so much time analyzing your lineup, only for the actual battle to teach you something completely different.
A card you ignored might become important.
A strategy you trusted might fail.
A simple lineup might outperform the complicated one you spent ages building.
And sometimesā¦
You just get lucky. š
Thatās why I enjoy playing.
You never completely know what is going to happen.
Every battle is another little experiment.
Some experiments succeed.
Some fail spectacularly.
And some leave you sitting there thinking:
āWhat exactly did I just watch?ā š
But no matter how the battle ends, there is usually something to take from it.
Maybe a new idea.
Maybe a mistake to avoid.
Maybe a card worth trying again.
Or maybe just a funny story to remember.
Either way, the next battle is waiting.
And yesā¦
Iām probably going to say āThis lineup is definitely winningā again.
