Follow Friday: Seventh Heaven

The News

This week we celebrated three years since Hive was forked from 'the legacy blockchain'. As @hivebuzz points out we can also mark seven years since this blockchain actually kicked off. We have been through a lot in that time. There have been ups and downs, but many of us just kept going. No platform is perfect, but this one has potential for anyone to prosper. We just need the world to realise that and it will take off. Each of us can help by introducing new users and mentoring them as they learn to use it. Not everyone will be a developer, but we can all be contributors.

Prices

I generated my usual price chart, but expanded it to cover the last three years. There have been dramatic changes in that time. $HBD got out of control for a while, but has been close to the $1 peg for a while now. $CUB and $SPS had their moments. $HIVE has been worth a lot more than now, but is doing okay through turbulent times. It overtook the 'legacy coin' some time ago and has consistently been worth about double that for a while. Cryptocurrency markets are fickle, but if we can show that Hive has real value then more people will invest. Already some have bought in to get $HBD savings that pay a nice rate. There are many opportunities to earn with varying levels of risk, but you can start with nothing and still make something if you can create good content.

Friday Follows

  • @hive-eu is building a new community to publicise events around Europe. That includes the UK as we are still part of that continent even if we fell out politically.
  • I have featured @stickupboys several times here, but then they do so much. They have brought lots of musicians to Hive as well as creating loads of GIFs that you will see everywhere. Their latest effort is to explain some of the intricacies of blockchains.
  • @socialmeteor has a new music video from Black Eye Butterfly who has been part of the Rising Star community. The game is having a few issues due to a server move, but may be back now.
  • @hannes-stoffel introduced yet another bot that gives out 'free hugs'. Those may not be worth a lot, but everyone can give one per day.

The Doghouse

Those who were around for when Hive forked will remember that it happened when the founding company was sold to Justin Sun. He used some dodgy methods such as getting exchanges to use their stakes to vote for witnesses he controlled. Some people had their funds stolen and many, including me, had their accounts made invisible. If you know anyone still using the 'legacy chain' then you may want to persuade them to use Hive instead for the freedom and much better user experience.

Mr Sun owns the Tron blockchain (along with things such as BitTorrent) which has had some dodgy dealings. He was made an ambassador of Grenada for a while, which gave him diplomatic immunity, but he is now being sued by the U.S/ SEC for market manipulation. Perhaps he will finally be brought to justice. It is not clear if this will help Hive users get back their stolen funds. Perhaps others have more insight into what could happen with that.

The End

We are already nearly a quarter of the way through 2023. I have hopes that this year will see good progress with the number of small accounts powering up (helped by @tenkminnows) and in the number of Brits using Hive (listed on the #BritList). Those are my personal projects, but others have their own. Feel free to promote them in the comments.
