Description from Strava:
After a long dry spell we had a little rain the other night, but not enough to make much difference. Things are still green, but the garden could do with a good shower. This morning was bright and cool, but not as chilly as some recent runs.

It was time for a bit of a workout so I did two 8 minute 'sprints' with a couple of minutes between. Some of that was uphill, so it was not easy. I tried to go gently on the rest, but I could slow down more to keep my heart rate in zone 2. I took the long way home to extend it a bit.

My main reason for running is to maintain decent health as I get old. I want to have good quality of life. I like my food and so need some exercise to burn a few calories.

I see someone tried the shoes that broke the marathon record. They may be super light, but at 拢450 I will not be getting them any time soon. I am happy with my Allbirds shoes.

I think it is also important to exercise the mind. We should not just be passive consumers. I do a few puzzles like Wordle (and the Hive equivalent) as well as some cryptic crosswords. My job is quite analytical, but I find the puzzles fun. As with my running they are not really about competing with anyone. Now and again I do a pub quiz that is also fun.

Run and think free!
