This one is from my old archive. It was one of those sunday when we (circle of friends) used to visit different nearby places around New Delhi to get off our routine weekdays work pressure. More popular destination being Rajhasthan for forts and Uttrakhand for hills. So living in northern India , we can enjoy all sort of travel destination nearby.
Rajahsthan is one of the princely state of India, with glimpse of all sort of royalness all around. We often took many trips there to explore the different city and culture. Jaipur being one of the favourites destination as it covers many tourist spots. I would love to share few glimpses of this city which I captured earlier during one such visit.
Jaipur is the capital of India’s Rajasthan state. It evokes the royal family that once ruled the region and that, in 1727, founded what is now called the Old City, or “Pink City” for its trademark building color.
There are many attraction in Jaipur, and Amer Fort is one of them. Apart from the huge fort on top of the hills the other notable part of this fort is that, you will get to take on Elephant ride to reach to the top. The place is quite famous for the royal elephant ride like the kings of yesteryears.
Sitting on top, like a royal people on a Thorne and walking slowly to the top makes you feel like the king of the palace.
Elephants are quite famous at #Amer Fort*. The ride is available from the car parking areas to the top of fort. From the top you will get a complete view of the city.
Elephants were always considered as a royal means of transport. Many kings took frequent ride on their top.
Jaipur being one of the main princlly state the sight of Elephant is quite common. As soon as you enter the city, Elephants can be found on roads taking a walk in the busy streets.
Walking briskly on the road with their owner on top is quite common. I think, Elephant is one of the easy animal to be domistcated and trained. Looking at their friendlier behaviour to everyone. They always keep a smiling face.
These are the same elephant, which carry tourist for fort tour. The "Mahawat" or call the driver who manage the animal make sure, it does not stray.
Jaipur is very colourful city and you will find many glimpses of arts and handicrafts everywhere. We have many shops selling branded artefacts, however the best place to do shopping is along the roadside.
There are many items that can be found at affordable rates. Be it designer umbrella to keep you safe from sun & rain
Or designer slip-on / jooti to comfort your feet. And that beautiful crafted and coloured material.
All of these were elegantly placed atbthe roadside to pull different customers. But make sure you have the best bargaining ability to crack some good deals on these items. The sellers always try to charge big from foreigners.
In case you get tired or hungry and unable to find any good restaurant around, you can chew upon some local snacks at the road side.
These generally contains traditional mixtures called "chana choor" well placed and properly arranged the mix quantity is enough to make you taste some.

Jaipur is not far and only took 5 hrs from New Delhi by road. The city is quite reach in cultural heritage and traditional touch. One can enjoy the place with many things to explore.
