A beautiful railway station transforms a routine transit point into a living gateway that sets the emotional tone for an entire journey.

Stations built with classic arches, domes, and stained glass, feels like royal palaces rather than transit hubs. However, visiting an Indian railway station is usually a chaotic affair. There are very few atation which are developed and well maintained. Most of the Railway station place often present a chaotic sight due to massive overcrowding, extreme passenger rushes during peak seasons, and limited general coaches. The sights of tea vendors, porters, and station masters evoke a deep sense of nostalgia, representing the collective journey and daily life of millions. Mant station appears as a bustling, vibrant, and crowded hub filled with long concrete platforms, overhead footbridges, and the constant announcements of arriving and departing trains. However there are some station that contradict with the usual sight of railway station. The scene appears to be same for every station, wherever I went, untill I made it to Rameshwaram railway station. I was amazed and shocked with the look and appearance of the place.

The place is beautiful, clean and very spacious. Rameshwaram is one of the prigrimiage sight in India. Around 15000 people visit the place daily mostly by train. I assumed it be just like another railway station, but I was more impressed to the place after my visit. I think the government and railway department has taken a good initiative, to make the visit memorable for the visitors. The station is shaped as miniature temple complex.

The outside view was simply majestic and appeared to me like the famous Ramanathswamy temple. The station was transformed and designed like the interior architecture of the main temple complex. There were pillars and painting that reflect the actaul temple sight. No doubt seeing the station may remind people about the beautiful architectural indian temple which makes the place popular among indians.

I learned from the local people that the station undergoes modern upgrades under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, featuring a new design that mirrors the grandeur of the famous Ramanathaswamy Temple. There is a long corridors on all sides outside the station. This gives the place a splendrous look. The new station design reflects the grandeur and cultural essence of the iconic Ramanathaswamy temple.

There were lot of open spaces left for the commuters. The spacious space is one of the rare sight at any other railway station. The other indian railway station does not have so much outer space. Eithere there are roads or pavements for walking. But this one is unique. The open spaces resembles like an airport corridors. There were few public autos standing at the station entrance. They were waiting to take the passengers towards the destination. Most of the autos were in yellow adding the south vibes.

As we moved towards rhe station entry, the grand pillars on both sides giving us the temple vibes. The Ramanathswamy temple too have same kind of pillars. Although the photography is not allowed inside the temple, people visiting the place may take a memory with these beautiful standing structure. The pillars were spread all across the outer station area. They were made like temple corridors for walking. The painting and design were nicely engraved on the pillars making it quite beautiful.

This station has a rich heritage. It was opened in 1906, but over the time it has developed into a beautiful modern look. It is one of the oldest railway stations in the country and historically handled legendary services including train services to Sri Lanka via ferry. Seeing the modern architecture, noone will like to remember the old railway station.

For once I felt like walking around any of museum or even it felt like like walking inside the temple complex, but soon I realised I was at the railway station. There were commuters sitting around outside waiting for the train. There was a concourse that take us inside the station. There were not many checks but the course towards the platform has nice lighting that give an airport vibes.

Inside the platform area, the railway lines looks clean too. There were not much passengers on the railway platform. The station is equipped with many modern facilities. There were AC waiting hall, many snacks counter , RO water facility. Making the station quite unique and special of its own.

It was a different station and walking down the beautiful corridors gives a grandeur feeling to the place. Finding it beautifull what attracted me to snap so many pictures. And ultimately I left the place with some nice memory.

In good faith - Peace!!
