OK, I know I keep harping on about Pitstone but it really is a jolly nice place. You could plan a visit if in Buckinghamshire - there's plenty to do and see. It's a great area for exploring and just a stones throw away from the Ridgeway.
Today I've moved from Pitstone Windmill and have decided to share a photograph of Pitstone Church. As with the Windmill photographs this picture dates back to 2005 when I first really got into digital photography.
Sadly the church is now redundant but is thankfully a Grade I listed building which means it's a building of exceptional interest. The grading system also helps to protect buildings as it makes it difficult to change or develop them. Good job too!
The earliest parts of the building date back to 1250 with amendments then being made in the 15th century. If only walls could tell stories!
The church as declared redundant in 1973 so regular services have not taken place for a good long while. The interior features include a font from the 13th century and the pulpit is from the 17th century. It's hard to think that's a 400 year gap and even the 17th century was a bloomin' long time ago.
