Spring does't officially start for another 3 weeks but it certainly made it's near arrival felt this morning.
The last few weeks have been difficult and quite frankly exhausting. My brother-in-law suffered a stroke last week and the complexities of the COVID pandemic made a difficult situation a bit of a nightmare. Hospitals are obviously very busy and visitors aren't allowed, my sister spent 6 days trying to get hold of a consultant and had very limited contact with her husband. He had his mobile phone on him but has been very confused and therefore unable to communicate effectively by text. Thankfully he returned home yesterday but has a long road ahead of him.
Because of what has been going on I've found myself heading to bed earlier but not sleeping brilliantly. However, I had a reasonable night last night and was awake by 05:30. Instead of wasting time in bed I decided to get up and head out for my daily exercise with the dog. A break from the usual routine we walked the long beach circuit instead of driving down to the lifeboat shed and walking along the dunes.
It was a bit chilly when we first left the house and there had been a light frost overnight. Lola was on the lookout for her play pals but it was a little too early for them to be out and about.
The sun was just peering over the horizon when we got to the beach. Perfect timing.
The moon also looked magnificent but I was unable to get a decent photo.
The sunrise was more noticeable by the time we approached the shoreline. There was what I think is a maintenance ship out by the wind farm. Actually, I'm not sure if it's a ship or some form of platform. I believe the tall posts are legs which are lowered to the seabed.
I never get bored of the array of colours on display as the sun rises. I changed my phone late last year to a model with an extra wide camera. It can cause some distortion but I think it's pretty good at these landscape shots.
Heading south down the coast towards Great Yarmouth.
I'm not sure I've been to this end of the beach when the tide has been high. I usually walk close to the groynes but they were well submerged.
Lola isn't one for getting wet so she didn't fancy a paddle where the seawater had been locked in. I'm always hopeful of seeing some form of life but never do.
The contrails looked pretty cool I thought as a couple of jets headed east towards the sunrise.
The final glance as we headed back into the village on our way back for breakfast.
I think the route covered about 3.5 - 4 miles and was a great way to start the day. It was still cold when we got home but you could just about feel the heat of the sun; this made me happy! I started to work on making the garden look nice last weekend and fingers crossed will manage a little more of the same this weekend. We were back for 07:30, Lola scoffed her breakfast and I brewed a lovely mug of tea.
