Merry belated Christmas Hive and a very Happy New Year to you all.
The festive season has been a little bit pants in this whereabouts but we still managed to have a reasonably good time.
Unfortunately we lost our lovely Jazzy Cat on the approach to the festive season. He hadn't been right for a while and suddenly took a turn for the worst one Saturday night and was in a semi conscious state when I found him on a Sunday morning. He died with me petting him a few hours later. Very upsetting to lose a pet and we miss him very much.
A week or so later I surprised the kids and got the tree up when they were at school. It's usually something we aim to do together but lose interest very quickly. I was quite proud of my efforts to be honest.
It was all setup in time for the wife to get COVID over Christmas so that was nice. The family gathering was cancelled and the kids opened their presents with their mum via WhatsApp. Eating a 5kg turkey between the 4 of us was a challenge, but we managed with a little help from the dog and cats. A new kitten (Winston) had joined us by this point and it turns out he's a right little pig!
Beyond that the weather has been overcast so there haven't been too many nice walks on the beach. I did however manage these few on the 27th December, not great but it was a lovely still day and quite mild for the time of year.
