No it isn't atleast I don't think that was ever part of their business model. But the political left and the media have played up a single event of two black Americans being asked to leave because they weren't buying something as the new terrible racist event. Ok they were waiting on a friend and there was no need for a escalation involving the police but what happened probably has a lot more to do with a maximization of profit business model than racism. And almost certainly there was a lack of communication. Seriously it is well known that many businesses don't like people sitting in their establishment and occupying tables without ordering. That costs them money as actual paying customers are unable to sit at that spot.
Starbucks is not a Ku Klux Klan, white power, Hitler Nazi style business and everybody knows this yet this event was used to "fight racism". Of all the real racism in the world they choose the one event that probably has less to do with racism than most.
Now all Starbucks employees had to undergo anti racism training, even the black employees lol. Allegedly they were forced to watch videos of racist events, violence against black people, racial bias etc. Allegedly it made some black employees feel uncomfortable, not surprisingly duh, who wouldn't feel uncomfortable having to watch stuff like that. What Starbucks is doing is basically sucking a leftist dick. If Starbucks had said something like "If our employee made a mistake we apologize but Starbucks is not and has never been a Nazi Coffee company" and just stick with that then they could have stopped this fake outrage. By doing the anti racism training the message they are sending says that they have a racism problem even if they know that's not really so. Call it public relations, call it real concern or stupidness.
If you own a restaurant can someone sit there and not buy something?
Is that how you run a successfull business?
