''The truth is that I never shook my shadow
And every day it's trying to trick me into doing battle..''

These two lines are from a brilliant song by Alexander Ebert called - Truth which I will add at the end of this post. It's a really deep song questioning our reality and how we perceive it.

BUT WHAT IS THE TRUTH?

Mark Twain once said:
-“If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.”

and I think it's very logical because I get that from my own experience of lying when I was a kid. Once you start hiding the truth, it gets harder with each passing day and then at some point you forget the lies you told or the sequence of things that happened in your lies and it all gets out.

But, as I found out, Mark Twain also said:
“Never tell the truth to people who are not worthy of it.”

SO WHAT SHOULD I DO?

How do I know if someone's worth the truth?
I don't and I if I thought I did - it would only be my perspective and not the actual truth.

All I know is that I would choose truth over lies no matter how hard the truth may hit.

As Joe Klaas said in his book - Twelve Steps to Happiness:
“The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off.”

Think about how your parents and teachers lied to you as a kid. Starting from Santa and Easter bunny to all sorts of lies that made you live in a fairy land where everything happens by itself. If they would tell us the truth that Santa doesn't exist, it would surely make us sad or piss us off but maybe it would make us look at the reality in a different way.

Maybe we would then understand that everything is in our hands without the magical dust that's gonna make our dreams come true. Maybe we would become multi-millionaries or masters at something much earlier than it is now.

What do you think, my friend?
