My Actifit Report Card and Holiday Update: October 1 2026
Hi Everyone,
I’m back from my holiday in Orlando, Florida. It was a 2-week theme park blitz of Disney World and Universal Studios. I have never been on so many rides over just a 2-week period before. I also wracked up a load of steps on some of the days. The Halloween Horror Night is my highest count since owning a Fitbit.
I just didn’t have time to post on the day or even the next day, for that matter. Towards the end of the holiday, my Fitbit failed me. It is supposed to be water resistant, but when I went swimming with the Dolphins, it stopped working because it was wet. Four days later, it appears to be working again, which is a relief. So I can finally post an Actifit post again. However, the count is back to my normal numbers.
The holiday was a lot of fun. The weather was warm but manageable. It was similar to Singapore but less humid. Therefore, we could escape the heat by moving into the shade.
September is the perfect time to visit the Orlando theme parks, as they are least busy. Most of the queues were relatively short, 30 minutes or fewer. There were a few very popular rides with wait times of just over an hour. That is short compared to what they would be during peak times, which could be over 4 hours for some rides. My sister did some good research.
Which was the best park? That is a very difficult question to answer. All the parks had great aspects to them as well as some great rides and great theming. The Disney parks felt better managed and almost perfectly organised. I will cover this in a separate post. Universal made great use of their land and was generally more affordable.
Instead of comparing parks, I’ll make a quick personal ranking and comparison of some of my favourite rides.
- Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind (Epcot Disney)
- Hagrid’s Magical Creature Motorbike Adventure (Islands of Adventure Universal)
- Jurassic World VelociCoaster (Islands of Adventure Universal)
- Rise of the Resistance (Hollywood Studios Disney)
- Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (Magic Kingdom Disney)
- Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts (Universal Studios)
- Transformers: The Ride-3D (Universal Studios)
- Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment (Epic Universe Universal)
- Avatar Flight of Passage (Animal Kingdom Disney)
- Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey (Islands of Adventure Universal)
There were many other great rides, such as Adventures of Spider-Man, Stardust Racers, Hiccup’s Wing Gliders, Donkey Kong Mine Cart Madness, Expedition Everest, Ratatouille, Space Mountain, Test Track, Tron, Soarin, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and Ministry of Magic.
Some of the rides are coasters, such as the top three on my list. Others are hybrid simulators such as transformers and Forbidden Journey. Some used unique ride technology such as the rise of the resistance. Tiana’s bayou adventure was a water coaster.
I ranked them based on how much I enjoyed the ride. Each park had at least one great ride.
Overall, Universal had the slightly better rides, but Disney had the better shows and slightly better theming. However, Epic Universe was themed just as well as the Disney parks.
There weren’t too many characters out and about, but I managed to meet a few.
Well, that was just a brief reflection on my amazing Orlando theme park holiday. A holiday with a lot of steps. I will write more about this trip in the coming months as well as return to my economics content. I wish everyone a great week.
