I’m thrilled to be participating for another year, so let’s check the Inktober calendar to see today’s prompt… and today’s prompt is Trunk! I had many ideas for this prompt, from our Ocean Healer shirtless and dressed as a lumberjack, to a tree trunk where a tiny Forest Healer rests, but then I thought about the importance of creatures in the Holozing universe and how sometimes we forget some of them, so I wanted to feature a different protagonist today—one whose habitat is surrounded by trees and who nests inside those hollow trunks. If we’re ready… let’s start drawing!
Hola amigos y comunidad de Holozing, espero estén teniendo un muy lindo día. Hoy continuamos dibujando y llevando a cabo el reto del Zingtober. Me encanta poder estar otro año más participando, así que vamos a seguir el calendario del Inktober para ver cuál es el prompt de hoy... y el prompt de hoy es Trunk! Se me ocurrieron muchas ideas para este prompt, desde nuestro Ocean Healer a torso desnudo, caracterizado como leñador, hasta un tronco donde una pequeña Forest Healer descansa, pero luego pensé en la importancia que tienen las criaturas en el universo de Holozing y cómo a veces olvidamos algunas, pues quise entonces tener un protagonista distinto hoy, uno cuyo hábitat está rodeado de árboles y que anida en esos troncos huecos. Si estamos listos... ¡Comencemos a dibujar!
Today’s protagonist is Chirple, a small and beautiful parrot with vibrant colors. In the hollow trunk of a tree, he decided to build his nest to lay eggs that will become future offspring. I started with a quick sketch and limited my color palette to black and white, using tones from the original design but with the contrast lowered to a minimum. I created the entire drawing in Photoshop, from sketch to coloring. This program makes layer management much easier, so I added small shadow and light effects to create good volume. I also used some texture brushes for the feathers, the tree trunk, and the background. The hardest part was making the nest—I had to repeat the process several times—and I added tiny drops of sparkling dew on the leaves to give a touch of light. I loved the final result.
Nuestro protagonista de hoy será: Chirple, un pequeño y bonito loro de vistosos colores. En el tronco hueco de un árbol decidió hacer su nido para poner huevos que serán futuras crías. Comencé con un boceto rápido y limité mi paleta de colores a blanco y negro, para eso utilicé una paleta de colores del propio diseño original pero con el contraste bajado al mínimo. Todo el dibujo lo realicé en Photoshop desde el boceto hasta el coloreado. Este programa me facilita mucho el manejo de capas, así que agregué algunos pequeños efectos de sombras y de luces para crear un buen volumen. También utilicé algunos pinceles de textura para algunas plumas, el tronco del árbol y el fondo. Lo que más trabajo me dio fue hacer el nido, donde tuve que repetir varias veces el proceso, y le agregué unas pequeñas gotas de rocío brillante en las hojas para dar un toque de luz. El resultado final me encantó.
