Bit of a downer day today. That’s probably an understatement, but it is what it is. Yesterday was a great day; nothing too special, but a normal day at work, followed by some time by the hotel fireplace before hiking down the mountain back home, great weather.. bla bla bla. As far as a work day goes, all in all a perfect day.
That is, until my phone went off as I was heading to bed. A buddy of mine from back home has passed away in an auto accident. We weren’t close by any means, but in a small community like ours it hits pretty hard regardless. Vinny was a young kid I worked in a kitchen with briefly and would frequently skate with at our local DIT. Super quiet kid, but a genuine, wonderful soul that has left us far too soon.
I don’t have a lot of emotional capacity left for the day. I kind of tuned out of reality halfway through my shift and am in a little bit of shock. Our community is extremely small, and the alt community-or whatever you want to call it- within it is even smaller. Everyone’s taking it pretty hard.
Here’s to you, Vinny. Rest easy, skate your big heart out wherever you are, and keep putting smiles on people’s faces. You will be missed; I did not know you too well but I do know you were and are an extremely loved person. Cheers buddy 🍻
