These have been popping up all over the place. They're an edible member of the boletes family and kinda hard to justify foraging for eating. In order to enjoy them you have to get rid of the slimy top and the sponge underneath that it uses to spread its spores.
On top of that, you will have a hard time finding enough for a meal. They go bad very fast, and usually by the time you find them they've got gross things inside of them.
They can get pretty big though! If you're lucky you can find a dinner plate sized one that hasn't gone bad. One will be enough for a big meal.
I also found some shaggy manes. Apparently they're pretty good but they go bad super fast.
It's amazing what you find when you're paying attention to what's on the ground.
