Hello everybody,
welcome to STEEM BASICS.
STEEM BASICS is a series of posts that covers all topics about STEEM, STEEMIT, BUSY, UTOPIAN, DTUBE and the whole Ecosystem and will help new users on STEEM to understand the plattform better!
Previous Episodes:
This episode is about alternatives to STEEMIT and what you can do if STEEMIT is not available / not loading.
We advise you to read through our previous episodes first so that you have a basic understanding about STEEM - which will be helpful for todays episode, but we'll try to explain the most important things anyway.
STEEMIT not available / not loading - what now?
As we explained in the first episode - STEEM is the blockchain which contains all of your Posts, Comments, Transfers, Accounts etc. while STEEMIT, BUSY, DTUBE, UTOPIAN & Co. are simply interfaces that display the blockchain.
That means - STEEMIT, BUSY and the rest are basically the same - except of the way that the blockchain is getting displayed.
In the case of DTUBE - only Posts (Videos) that were created through DTUBE are also displayed there.
This is why it is actually not a real problem when STEEMIT is not available, since you are able to use all the other options - for example BUSY is a very good alternative for STEEMIT.
But .. what if you prefer the way STEEMIT looks?
STEEMIT ALTERNATIVE: STEEMITSTAGE.COM
Luckily, STEEMIT has also another site where new features are tested - called: STEEMITSTAGE.com.
While STEEMITSTAGE may contain bugs and other unknown problems as it is the developer version, it is still a complete clone of the original - just a bit newer.
We are not sure how safe it is to use, but we are pretty confident that using it with your POSTING-KEY should be no problem at all.
But be careful when using STEEMIT clones
While STEEMITSTAGE is officially maintained by STEEM Inc. - there are other mirrors (clones) that look completely identical to STEEMIT - since the code is open source and everybody can use it - but which may have been maliciously edited to steal your keys or other things.
So you should be very careful on which site you enter your private keys!
Nevertheless - we do think that there are a lot of other great alternatives to STEEMIT.
STEEMIT Alternatives
Identical Interfaces:
Interfaces that display nearly the same as STEEMIT:
Custom Interfaces which display only specific content:
If you have more alternatives - then please let us know!
We hope that you enjoyed this episode!
