I found a swamp full of duckweed for this #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay
I found some ducklings right when I reached the swamp edge. I was hoping for wood ducks but found only mallards. Here they are gobbling up the duckweed.
This family has eight ducklings. They are about halfway grown.
These guys are so tame, I could practically reach down and pet them. I was worried about slipping and falling into the nasty swamp though.
This poor duck family probably lost quite a few ducklings. I only saw two around. Mallards are all about quantity to offset all the predators that feast on the ducklings.
Here's a father goose taking a quick one-footed nap. I was wondering where on earth the rest of his family is hidden...
About a minute later they emerged out from under the bushes. Looks like this family has six.
Time to take them out of the shade for some feasting. They have plenty of food to eat here.
Still no wood ducks so I focused on the goose family eating endless amounts of duck weed. I wonder how many nutrients are in this plant? I suspect quite a bit similar to watercress.
Now the whole family is having dinner together. This swamp needs about 50 more geese and duck families to clear out all this duckweed. Now that the sun is setting the mosquitoes are coming out and I forgot to bring the mosquito net for the baby stroller... Time to book it outta here.
That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)
