The toilet on the space shuttle lost a bolt so this poor astronaut janitor had to go space walking to replace the bolt.
Unfortunately a massive meteor shower started right as he got outside. Zillions of tiny bits of space debris started piercing the shuttle and of course the poor astronaut janitor.
The space debris is left over from an advanced civilization that used to live on a planet between Earth and Mars. Lots of unique materials are left over that have highly radioactive elements in them.
As these rare minerals hit the outer edges of the Earth and Moon's atmosphere all sorts of crazy radiation starts exploding in all directions.
The missing planet reached a powerful height of civilization. As everything got high-tech and easy the inhabitants of this plant became decadent. They started to become nihilistic and self destructive.
They became obsessed with interdimensional weapons that would pull energy from other dimensions to make more and more powerful explosions in their dimension. Now parts of this destroyed planet are entering Earth's atmosphere and causing mayhem.
Once all the meteors finally hit the earth became another sun in the solar system.
All kinds of exotic light particles are sent back out into space.
Now aliens from other planets can look at the stars and see some of these exotic light particles and theorize about super novas and other strange space phenomena. Little do they know it was just a self destructive race of beings that took things too far.
One alien planet far off in another galaxy has the ability to retrace the path of each light particle and combine it back into the image from where the light began. Now they can study this strange human space janitor and his untimely fate fixing the bathroom on a space station.
