We had a successful Easter egg hunt on this #sublimesunday
We like to color the eggs in a natural way with hibiscus, tumeric, red cabbage, blueberries, beet juice and other things that can dye an egg.
One way to add the interesting texture is to pack things like leaves, onion leaves and other natural things that can leave a pattern on the egg. Pantyhose is used to pack the natural elements close to the egg.
My wife and daughter collected some strange leaves and flowers to pack into the pantyhose for the patterning.
Next you add some vinegar and the natural dye then dunk the wrapped eggs into the liquid overnight.
Now its time for the hiding of the eggs.
My wife distracted my daughter with feeding some fish in a lake while I stashed them in various trees and around fresh blooming daffodils.
Later I found out the fish she was feeding happened to be two Canadian geese who scared all the fish away.
Last year my daughter needed quite a bit of help even knowing she was supposed to collect the eggs. But this year she was excited about collecting them.
I did my best to remember where I hid them all. Though if I forget where one goes a coyote can have a nice meal.
Now its time to let her find the eggs. She did well after some coaching.
I gave a few hints. Look at those nice yellow flowers over there, then she would find the egg.
After exhausting all the flower hiding spots she started looking up in the trees.
She liked finding them in the trees the best.
Another successful Easter Egg hunt. Now I get to eat them all at work later this week.
