Here's part two of my trip to the orchid factory.
Here's a big table display of mini orchids. They figured out how to grow them small. I used to have a mini orchid but it died :-(. I think I overwatered it. In the background is a huge display of purple orchids.
Next up we have a Sherry Baby. These have a potent vanilla/chocolate smell to them. I have one of these at home that blooms every year. If you put the blooms in the sun it can make a whole room smell like vanilla with a hint of chocolate.
Next we have some Aloha Sparks. These look almost identical to the Sherry Babies but they have a larger bloom and very little aroma.
Next up are some Mystic Maze orchids. These names start getting hilarious. Many of them are just made up by the growers themselves as they breed orchids of a general species to have specific color characteristics. Its much easier to remember these common names than their longer latin names.
I wish this one had a common name lol. Colmanara Catatante doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.
This one seems to be named like a virus H171 sounds a bit ominous for such a nice bold patterned orchid. Personally I would name this after a Jimi Hendrix song "Purple Maze" since it has a maze like pattern.
Well that's it for now. More orchids soon...
