Here are a few fungi finds from my northwoods camping trip for this #fungifriday by @ewkaw
I found a Fomes Fomentarius that looks just like the phone poop icon.
It is almost the perfect shape as the phone icon lol.
This dead birch tree was completely covered in them.
Now for some rock organisms.
These rocks on the top of a mountain seem to have collected enough dust to support ferns growing out of them.
There was all sorts of moss and some lichen growing on these rocks as well.
Now for the strange fungal organism. This is some weird looking lichen that peels off revealing black underneath. I suspect when it rains these roll out again and flatten back onto the rock.
Later on I found some chocolate tube slime mold growing on a patch of moss.
I also found a nice fresh Ganoderma lingzhi growing next to a waterfall. It needs the constant mist from the waterfall to survive.
Here is what it looks like underneath. They tend to start out as an antler then eventually bloom out into a fan shape.
I found another one nearby that was growing out of a tree. This one's shape is much different but the shiny red top is a good identifying factor for lingzhi.
This is the river they were growing by.
That's all for this #fungifriday happy hunting :-)
