Beginning of September - The first mushrooms of the year
Początek września – pierwsze grzyby w tym roku
This year’s trip to the countryside in early September wasn't exactly kind when it came to mushrooms. Temperatures were high, and a drought that had persisted for weeks offered little hope for a bountiful harvest.
Tegoroczny wyjazd na wieś, z początkiem września nie był zbytnio łaskawy jeśli chodzi o grzyby. Temperatura była wysoka, a panująca od wielu tygodni susza, nie dawała nadziei na pokaźne zbiory.
Despite the extreme dryness—with twigs snapping loudly underfoot—I managed to find a few things, though there wasn't a single edible mushroom to be seen. Still, there were plenty of fly agarics and other species to admire.
Mimo iż był bardzo sucho, a patyki aż strzelały pod nogami, udało się co nieco znaleźć, choć grzybów jadalnych nie było w ogóle. Można było nacieszyć oko muchomorami i innymi gatunkami.
Most of the mushrooms were seeking moisture in the moss or within old tree stumps; otherwise, there was no chance for them to grow at all.
Większość grzybów szukała wilgoci we mchu lub w starych pniach drzew. Inaczej nie było szans na jakikolwiek wzrost.
Morning mists helped the situation slightly, depositing dew on the grass and providing a bit of moisture.
Lekko poprawiły sytuację poranne mgły, które osadzały rosę na trawie i dostarczały trochę wilgoci.
Conditions improved significantly in the following days when a rainy weather front arrived. But that is a story for another time.
Sytuacja znacznie poprawiła się w kolejnych dniach, gdy nadszedł deszczowy front atmosferyczny. Ale to już opowieść na kolejny raz.
