Last weekend I found these photos in my archives. They are from a shoot made in 2015, in the backyard of the house I lived in at the time. I was finally able to see beauty in these images... this is a process that takes a long time for me, long years...
Perhaps it's the current moment in my life that has made me look at them more fondly. Maybe it's just time sharpening my gaze. Maybe I'm already so different that I don't even recognize what I used to like.
I named this series "Fallen Fruit", inspired by a 1935 poem by the Brazilian poet and composer Vinicius de Moraes. In one passage, he says:
"...from the old fallen fruits emerge strangely calm trees..."
And that's what I hope for, with all the strength that lives in me.
