Fallen: The Quiet Circle of Life

For today’s photo collection, I decided to call it “Fallen.” The idea is quite literal because every subject in these photos has already fallen to the ground. There are flowers, dried leaves, and other pieces of nature that were once growing beautifully on their plants and trees.

Normally, I would probably just photograph them because of their texture, shape, or the contrast they create in black and white. But while looking at these photos, I started thinking about what happens after they fall.

A flower may have already reached its peak before eventually dropping to the ground. The same thing happens to leaves. At first, it might seem like this is simply the end of their journey. But nature has a different way of looking at endings.

Eventually, these fallen pieces will decay and become part of the soil. Their nutrients will return to the earth and, in time, help support the plants and trees they once came from. In a way, they will rise again through new leaves, flowers, and branches.

It really is a circle of life when you think about it.

Maybe there is also something we can learn from that. Not every ending means that something is completely gone. Sometimes, it simply changes form and becomes part of something new.

I guess I became a little philosophical today, which is quite different from my usual photography posts. Maybe that’s what weekends are for—slowing down a little, observing simple things, and allowing our minds to wander.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this small black-and-white collection of things that have fallen but are still very much part of life.

Have a good day ahead!
