Community gatherings are so fun! Whether it is a last-minute get together block party or long-planned festival for the entire town, it is always beneficial to socialize with others.
Our town hosts festivals year-round. I previously showed you the California Honey Festival in one of my #marketfridays articles. There is also the BrewFest, Tomato Festival, Almond Festival, St Patrick's Day Festival, Scottish Games Festival, One Heart One Love Reggae Festival, Aloha Festival, Greek Festival, and a couple more.
For this edition of #marketfriday, it is the
Crawfish & Catfish Festival.
I hope you were able to view the one-minute video above. In all the festivals I attended in town, there's always music playing, oftentimes, a live band provides the music. During the 2019 Crawfish & Catfish Festival, we enjoyed live Cajun, Zydeco, Blues, Jazz, R & B, and Funk on three stages!
The Crawfish and Catfish Festival features the authentic tastes of Louisiana, Cajun, Creole, Southern BBQ, Soul Foods, Latin Foods, and Asian/Cajun Fusion cuisine. Specialties offered included crawfish, catfish, alligator, frog legs, shrimp, oysters, gumbo, jambalaya, sausages, hot dogs, wings, garlic noodles, beignets, and pralines.
These were the foods that I ate during the festival: Boiled Crawfish & Potatoes, Po'boy Catfish Sandwich, Grilled Oysters with lots of garlic, Garlic Fries, Onion Rings. Yup, I have a huge appetite! I did split the sandwich with a friend and shared a few Southern Hush Puppies.Happy yummy in my tummy!
Festival activities included cooking demos, Zydeco dance lessons, race crawfish, Catch and Release Catfish pool, a kid’s zone, and of course the vendor marketplace. As in many festivals, there were over a hundred booths.

The wood art carvings were nice and interesting. I am glad to have some photos to show you this #marketfriday.
Festivals and similar events are great opportunities to help build a community, foster a sense of pride within a community, and engage a community. I've met new people and made new friends in festivals!
