Join me as I showcase the big local market in my village. I wished I had enough space in my phone to take numerous photos of the things I bought and the stalls I stood at. I still believe this would do a little.
How most market women display their goods
It has been a long while and I have not visited the big local market because of my illness. I was only going to small roadside stores to buy something for food or little community markets nearby. I haven't been to the big market for a long time.
I have always wanted to come to this market because there is someone I bought clothes from for the past two months and she subtracted one of my clothes when she was doing the counting and putting it inside. I do not know why she did that or whether it was a mistake. But I feel she subtracted the cloth on purpose just to che@t me. I had transferred money to her through a bank that uses a phone number as an account number and she received the money. When I got home and cross checked the clothes, I realized that they were not up to the complete number. I called her through the account number and told her and she acknowledged the fact and told me she would make a refund. She never refunded and today, I was able to visit that big market but could not see her because she did not come today.
Ice fish
I also bought some foodstuffs for the house. I want to cook our local soup and I bought some foodstuffs for cooking it.
Periwinkle
I bought palm oil, fresh leaves at N1,000, periwinkle at just N200, cow bones at N500, ice fish at N1000, the smaller size, seasoning cubes at N750, kpomo at N500, rice beans and garri.
Busy market
The market was very busy today unlike other days because it is a weekend and so many people always come to the market to buy foodstuffs for their families which will last them into the new week and many traders from interior villages come out to sell their goods today at cheaper rates because people will be very many at the market.
Women are always more at the market while men are of a lesser number. Most women were just calling me and other people they perceived to be customers to come and patronize them. Some of them nicknamed me old school because of my big baby bump and they were beaming with smiles. They begged me to come and patronize their stands and that they will sell at very good rates for me. But I could not buy from everyone because I was only buying the things that I needed to buy for the house.

The weather also looks very nice and bright today. It seems we are going to have a sunny day. Although a sunny day is not guaranteed, we are still in the rainy season. I believe the market women will be very happy if the sun really shines very well throughout today. I also bought some other things at the market.
