Hello there, Hivers!!
I'm so excited to share with you a wonderful weekend afternoon I had with my husband. We went to the town center to experience the Dragon Fruit Festival. Just a short note: our island province is small, but every year, we celebrate 2 major festivals. The Manggahan (Mango) festival and the Dragon Fruit festival. There are also small festivals in every municipality.
As we arrived in the Capitol grounds, we were greeted by a group of people wearing colorful outfits. They weren't in costumes, they were the Zumba dancers 馃榿.
These ates and titas were cheerfully swaying their hips to the beat of the music 馃榿
Since I don't dance or do Zumba, I looked around for some food 馃槀. Well, that's what I actually came for in the first place. hehe.
I first saw the pizza with dragon fruit on top.
I was kinda disappointed because I was expecting they'll use dragon fruit sauce instead of the pizza sauce, but what would you expect from a 20 pesos' worth of pizza slice? 馃榿
I went to another stall and looked for an ice cream. My sister told me they had dragon fruit ice cream, but it was sold out when we checked. So I only got juice.
I actually liked it. It was not too sweet, and I could taste a hint of lemon.
I looked for a stall that sold dragon fruit jam and wine, but I didn't find one. I think I'm gonna go back some other time because some stalls were still closed.
Here are the other products they have on display.
I bought a kilo of dragon fruit, and we loved it. My daughter even brought some to school. One thing I didn't like was the lack of effort to make this festival grand. There were a few stands selling dragon fruit or dragon fruit products. Very limited space and very few activities. IDK, maybe because it's the weekend? I hope the event gets better in the coming days.
