It is common that Memorial Day is spent in the beach with family and loved ones or grilling out because it also marks the unofficial start of summer!

Memorial Day began as Decoration Day, with towns around the country honoring those who perished in the Civil War. Women decorated the graves of slain troops in the 1860s
Congress passed the National Holiday Act of 1968, which changed the holiday from May 30th to the final Monday in May.

Americans visit local military cemeteries, where volunteers place American flags on the graves of military personnel. Some volunteer at various organizations or make a donation to a worthy cause.

I always spend a minute of silence to mourn and honor those who have died in our nation's many wars.

Given the holiday's solemn tone, wishing someone a "Happy Memorial Day" could be considered insensitive.

On the obverse side is a depiction of the American flag as it sways in the breeze. The background field for the white stripes and the blue background field are finished in a matte silver. The 50 stars and red stripes have a deeply-mirrored finish to create a stunning contrast between the two fields.
The reverse side of the bar bears a mint mark for the Sunshine Mint, as well as the corporate logo, name, and the bars weight, purity, and metal content. The mintmark is a simple circle stamped in the middle that reads Mint Mark SI. Source
