Sometimes a pie feels like a whole production, and I am just not in the mood for that. That's where the apple galette steps in!
Don't let the fancy name fool you. An apple galette is just a pie, without the stress version of apple pie, and with a French accent
In a mixing bowl, add 1/2 cup sugar and the juice of a half a lemon to 2 or 3 Honey Crisp apples which are peeled, cored, and sliced thin.
Add 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
Then add 1 tablespoon cornstarch.
Mix everything thoroughly.
Roll the dough into a 13-inch round. I find it easier to roll the dough between floured parchment paper.
Spread the apple filling over the dough, about 1 to 2 inches from the edges.
Fold the edges over the apples.
Brush the dough with beaten egg.
Sprinkle sugar all over the apples and dough.
Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degree Fahrenheit for 35 to 45 minutes.
All photos were taken by me with my iPhone.
I hope to see you again soon!
