If you read any of @silversaver888’s posts, she has been featuring vintage silver rounds quite often. She has quite a beautiful collection of some amazing and hard to find rounds. Some are hard to find because of their small mintage numbers. While others are hard to find because they are popular and once they get posted they are bought up rather quickly.

What’s pretty crazy is that this design is one of my favorites mainly because of my love of the Engelhard Prospector rounds. But these are from the Golden State Mint. They made these in the early 1980’s, and they are pretty difficult to find in either good condition or a good price. The Golden State Mint made these prospector rounds with four different reverses that I know of.

They all have the same prospector on the obverse. But the four different reverses are: A Buffalo, just like you see on the back of a Buffalo nickel. Second is a trade unit reverse. Third is an eagle reverse, and fourth is a stagecoach reverse. These are the ones that I am aware of.

I was able to obtain two of them through an auction site last week. I won a stagecoach reverse, and an eagle reverse.
