On this beautiful Sunday, I tried out this placed called Suki-Ya with my boss. My boss finally came back from his one month trip to India so we got together to talk about his plans for the business and the tasks he wanted me to complete.

Despite being older than me, my boss has never had hotpot before. He has also never tried many other types of food before so I've kind of made it a mission to make sure he tries all these different kinds of food. Korean bbq and many other types of food are still on the list.

You can see here the layout of the restaurant. There was a short line but it can be way longer depending on the timing. It's a weekend and I guess a lot of people were in the hotpot mood.

You can see the menu above. It's a pretty simple menu. It's a buffet and they have a lunch and dinner price; we were having lunch so we had the lunch price. You get to choose two soup bases which I asked the waiter to recommend and they suggested sukiyaki and kimuchi. There was a free flow of beef, lamb or chicken that could be ordered. Then there was self service of vegetables and other stuff at their healthy bar. Green tea, Ice Water and Orange were free flow with some other beverages having some add on costs.

Here on the left you can see all the different items to add to the hotpot. Then in the middle photo you can see all the different items to create your own sauce to dip the meat in after cooking it in the soup. In the last photo, you can see what the two soup bases we got looked like. The orange looking soup was the kimuchi and the red blackish one was the sukiyaki soup base.

For those that don't know about hotpot, basically you throw the vegetables and meats into the soup and eat it after it's cooked. When you dip the meat into the soup you want to swish and swoosh it around the soup which is basically soaking and moving the meat around in the soup to maximize the flavor from the soup.

They also had unlimited self serve ice cream with the choice between sea mint and chocolate. As you can see, I had the chocolate and I added peanuts to give it that extra flavor and crunch. You may notice the photo for this one is a bit ugly (please don't laugh) because I took some spoons of it before realizing that I forgot to take a photo of it.

The total for both my boss and me came out to be RM101.60 which comes out to around $21 USD. This was cheaper than the pizza buffet I had least week and I think more worth it for the price since there was a huge variety of options and drinks were included!

Overall, this place was nice. The staff was very friendly and gave great service always asking if I wanted more meat. The food was awesome and for the price I think it was a pretty good deal. I would definitely come back again. Please if you never tried hotpot, go try it; it's never too late to try new food!
