I've Been Busy...

alt

It's been over a week since my last blog post here.

I'd prefer to write and post every few days if I had my way. These blog posts can sometimes take a couple of days to write, which is why I try not to put time stamps on them.

Today is a day off from working. Not by choice though as there were a few casual job offers today but they went with other people.

I took the opportunity to pay my rent, take the selfie below and do some shopping.

I've been working at different locations, doing different jobs for different companies.

The first job was scanning tickets during an event called "Caravan and Camping Sale".

The next job was called "kicking carpet".

altPretty in pink?

It's where I kick carpet tiles, displaced by the movement of the caravans from the above Caravan and Camping Sale, back into place.

Because they only hired me for the last day, carpet was not only dislodged but run over and ruined because no one was there to fix it in time.

I folded it back, but the damage was done and it's left a permanent crease in the carpet.

This is what happens when companies decide to "cut costs". People who do the job, know the job. Management are so disconnected from the job that they make stupid decisions.

They had hired security guards to walk around the area and other people to watch the gate on the day they didn’t hire me. They were literally paid to do nothing.

Then there was a "welcome back to school" social event held by a very expensive private school and I was basically serving canopés of various descriptions.

altDressed to impress

This week I'm working at Gluttony, during the Adelaide Fringe Festival.

altCertified glutton?

Gluttony has a lot of the best performances that Adelaide has to offer, along with international guests as well.

My job for this event is working the dish pits collecting cans and bottles to be recycled and glasses and cups to be washed, dried and sent back to the bar.

This is work that should support me over the next few weeks.

The image below is of a massive swarm (not sure of the correct term here) of Flying Fox bats flying over Gluttony at dusk. There are literally thousands of them nesting in nearby parkland trees.

It definitely pays to look up and see the wonders this planet has to offer. There was one point where it looked like they were flying right towards me.
It would have made an awesome photo, but my phone camera couldn't handle the low light levels.

Speaking of looking up, life seems to be slowly improving and coming together.

Thank you for reading.

Until next time,

Shaidon
