Busy, Busy, Busy…

alt

I’m at home right now typing this via the @Ecency app on a new-ish second-hand iPad. The screen of my other one has been smashed to the point of near uselessness, but it has sentimental value so I am reluctant to get rid of it just yet.

This post will also act as a test because I don’t think the camera / photo quality is as good, even thouh this is a newer device. Maybe I have to adjust a setting somewhere. I’ll figure it out. The photo above was taken on this newer iPad and should be able to compare the two once I upload this.

In general it feels good just to not have to deal with the older iPad’s user-introduced idiosyncrasies (leaking water inside it causing the top of the screen to not work and dropping it so that there’s reduced surface tension meaning I have to rotate the screen constantly); it just works!

The Busy-ness

As a bit of an update, I am going to be somewhat busy over the next few days leading up to Christmas and I have nearly a week’s worth of work lined up for the second week of January 2024.

Tonight I’ll be selling tickets, or more likely reprinting forgotten tickets, for patrons of the Festival Theatre. Tomorrow I’ll be working as a waiter for a catering company, Sunday I’ll be selling tickets again and volunteering at a soup kitchen in he evening and Monday I’ll be pulling up carpet at the Wayville Showgrounds.

Then there are sporadic ticket selling events until Christmas. I am still applying and hopefully getting freelance work but it’s not guaranteed work.

Either way I’m busy and my new goal of at least trying to work every day for 2024 is slowly coming together. I know that January and February are typically slower months for the year in terms of hospitality work.

But I also have a few other tricks up my sleeves in regards to getting more work. We’ll how it all pans out.

altOutside camera test

The iPad camera seems to work a lot better in the daylight where there is a lot more ambient light. Not sure why it’s not as good as my other iPad indoors. Oh well!

altMy face after nearly dropping this iPad

As I type this, I’ve just been given a few shifts for February. Sweet.
These things can change of course, but it’s good to see my reputation is starting to grow after so much nonsense of the last few years.

Over the course of 2024 I plan to build up my personal brand locally and help as many people as possible. I’m weighing up whether or not to get business cards printed, but I do not know how effective they really are these days.

Either way, I am loving typing this on this newer iPad.

I made the mistake of buying an Apple Watch, thinking I could link it to my iPads when it requires an iPhone to synch to just to be able to set the time on it. Lesson learned. It it comfortable to wear though. Shame.
It’s still under the 90 day guarantee, so I can still swap it for a Galaxy watch that I know is compatible with my current, ancient, phone.

Thank you for reading.

Until next time,

Big thumbs up!
