A Little Breathing Room

alt

The last few months have been really rough for me, financially. I don't have a regular, consistent form of income, so I am going backwards very rapidly.

Yesterday I had to pay two lots of bills, rent, Koinly and a tax accountant to do my crypto-related taxes and it certainly wasn't cheap.

I'm waiting to be paid for the work I did during the recent referendum and I have a few shifts for the end of next week, so I am a little hopeful but still mindful of where my money is going.

altCan I inspect your hygiene?

I've been applying for both full time and part time work and I'm being rejected quite a bit. Occasionally, I'll get a shift like tonight's emergency one.

altEmergency shift ticket selling guy

The company had hired 4 new young people and three of them didn't turn up. Common sense would dictate that you'd give the shifts to the existing staff members you can rely on...

Another company isn't offering me shifts, or they are offering shifts out at remote locations like Tailem Bend, which is an hour and a half drive away. They pay for 2 hours travel time, but I don't have a car.

On my way to the emergency shift mentioned above, I ran into a coworker for the immediately above company. We didn't have time to chat nut we acknowledged each other as we passed.

He's young and only been there a few months and he's being offered every shift while I am being turned down for the shifts at locations where I have worked previously.

It's rather obvious that I am being discriminated against. I am not sure whether it's from age or what the story is but it's annoying.

I'm still applying for everything I can regardless.
I've started taking screenshots of the jobs I've applied for because I've started to become paranoid.

I've been white-anted before.

Financial Fresh Air

The breath of fresh air is coming in the form of a massive tax return and the payment for ths jobs mentioned above.

However, I can't be complacent when it comes to money. December, January and February are going to be financial dry spells and I will have to consider whether or not to go back on welfare.

But I will fight tooth and nail before that happens.
Hope springs eternal, and I am slowly networking around as to possible vacancies.

I might be under a bit of pressure, but I am hoping that I have at least some social capital to muddle through. I just need to get really smart, really quickly and stay positive.

The skies are still blue after all.

altBlue skies behind strange clouds

I'll figure something out; I have to.

Thanks for reading.

Until next time,

altKeep on smiling!
