Dripping sweat, who the hell wants to buy yarn hats in the middle of the summer!? But they do, oh they do!

I can’t be sure if they are thinking ahead for autumn; it’s about 2 and a half months until the summer cools down…or do they just not care about the heat. It’s hard for me to tell since for me, hair itself is too hot for summer, it’s been a while since I had any.

It’s hard to figure out where @tentententen’s goods will sell well too. Last time we went to the area popular for fashion, and we didn’t sell a thing despite being unique and the same price as everything else, but just the kind of event, the organizers set the mood and the event itself seemed not to attract people into anything unique.

I actually suspected that the 12,000 yen it cost to join (more than twice the amount of other events we have joined) was some kind of scam, and during the event I got the sense that half the stalls were run by some big clothing wholeseller. I guess maybe they run the thing and make it look way more competitive than it actually is so people are willing to spend more.

Well today was just a friendly low stakes flea market, and in the heat of the summer at that but, we did a whole lot better than the last event, despite the fact that our goods were twice the price of most other vendors and a completely different style. It was mostly used goods, not handmade stuff like ours but we felt welcome.

And just like that, we sold a bunch of hats in the middle of the summer. They’re decorative hats so they aren’t that hot, but surprisingly no one was interested in the accessories which we made specifically in case people felt too hot for hats.

Perhaps those got their attention and the hats were more attractive to them in the end? I guess that would be a good thing.

In any case, we found a second event we can join regularly. The goal is to find 3 and in addition sell stuff during my shows. If we can do that we guess she can match her current salary just through her handmade goods. It’ll be hard to make that much stuff while still working her full time job but as we grt closer to being that active she can start to think about starting her company.

I’ve got to try not to get too sucked into her rhythm for now though. My job is to get my shows started again which I’m just sbout ready to do.

I have 3 places I’m thinking about running regular events at. If we both get into a good rhythm we’ll have 6 events every month, which is a lot, but we will get used to it!

By the end of the year we’ll be having 3-4 a month and slowly scale upwards as more people get interested.

Today two people saw her on instagram and came to find her which is a very good sign of things to come!
