After 5 years of ignoring the media hype, pop up advertisements and the mass preaching by my friends and classmates, I finally made the time to watch the hit animated TV show "Invincible".
And after the 3 days watch, I can actually understand the hype.

Plot

Mark Grayson has always looked upon his father, Omni-Man, with awe and unwavering respect. To Mark, his father is the epitome of what it means to be a hero, a symbol of strength and greatness he can only dream of becoming. He longs to follow in his father's footsteps, eagerly awaiting the day his own powers finally manifest and he can stand alongside the very man he idolizes.
When Mark turns seventeen, his long-awaited powers finally awaken, opening the door to a world he has spent his entire life dreaming of. With newfound abilities and an unshakable determination to live up to his father's legacy, Mark takes his first steps into the world of superheroes, adopting the name Invincible.
Yet, as he plunges deeper into this unfamiliar world, enduring countless troubles, trials, and tribulations, the harsh reality of being a superhero begins to shatter his childhood illusions. The life he once imagined to be filled with glory, admiration, and heroic triumphs proves far more brutal and unforgiving than he could have ever anticipated. And despite his incredible superhuman strength and near-impenetrable durability, young Mark Grayson is forced to confront a sobering truth: Invincible is just a name, and even the strongest heroes can be broken.

I'll admit, when I started this show, I was a bit skeptical. I already knew like 60% of the plot because of the people I move with it who are avid fans and followed it religiously.
Personally, I didn't find it that interesting, and so I quickly found myself multitasking while watching some episodes.
An EFootball match during some scenes, chatting and playing some games during the others, safe to say that it wasn't the best watch experience.
Yet when I got to the later seasons and episodes with more action and shockers, I found that I was entirely locked in.

This series has a beautiful plot, horrible animation (for it's budget) but God the voice actors are magical, especially when they need to be.

The one scene that left a deep impression on me is this one when OmniMan was begging Invincible. One can easily hear the desperation and confusion in his voice.

"Think Mark!" Sounds like a command but it easily feels like "Please Mark!"
It's a scene when Nolan has reached a point and needs to know if he'll have to kill his son or his son would understand what he needs to do.
His mission or his family, the stakes and high and the voice actor portrayed it magically.

Another instance of beautiful voice acting is the Viltrumite battle saga. When Thragg was enraged after his world was destroyed, his cry if defiance is one that really shook me.
Before someone can produce a voice that makes everyone who hears it shake with fear over the unbridled rage the voice carries, it's clear that that person has talent.

Lee Pace did awesomely in voicing that rage, the calmness and the sad understanding of a character who understands his wants and the responsibility of choosing what his people needs.

Like I mentioned earlier, that's one thing Invincible did right; the characters and their VAs.
The characters at different seasons go through different stages of development and even if each season is just 8 episodes long, you get to see just how these characters grow, you get to grow with them.
The subtle changes in mannerisms, the way they think and approach problems spanning from different issues of their life.

If the Marvel and DC superhero movies and shows are about how the superhero is so amazing and incredible and everybody believes in him, Invisible is the opposite.
It shows the reality in how the superhero is simply just trying his best in a world where seemingly everything is against him, even the people that he bleeds for.

Invincible is a lovely show, quite gory and yet very eye opening.
It's been renewed for a season 5 and although I'm not as loud as the others, I am a fan who would be there to watch it. 馃Ω
